INGREDIENTS PER 6 PEOPLE

self raising flour, 10,6 oz
caster sugar, 1 cup
butter, 1 stick 2 tbsp
eggs, 3
vanilla extract, 1 tbsp
apples, 3
water, 4 tbsp
brown sugar, 4 tbsp
little amaretti to decorate (optional)

PROCEDURE

Peel the apples, cut them into thin slices then, cook them for 10-15 minutes in a sauce pan with 2 tbsp of brown sugar and 4 tbsp of water until slightly softened.
Whip the eggs with caster sugar, add melted butter, flour and the vanilla extract, then keeps stirring till obtaining an homogeneous mixture. Pour it into a greased round baking tin. Roll the apple slices, in order to make them look like roses then lay them over the mixture. Add some amaretti biscuits (optional) around the roses, sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook at 340° F until golden (about 40 minutes).
